New York Child Sexual Abuse Claims Passed Statute of Limitation Now Being Accepted
On February 14th 2019, Governor John Cuomo signed into effect the New York Child Victims Act, which allows victims of childhood sexual abuse to file civil claims past the statute of limitations. The law gives a voice to victims who were too scared to report their abusers as children or young adults. Now, child sex abuse victims of any age can file lawsuits for abuse that happened even decades ago. Child victims who suffer sexual abuse will be able to file civil lawsuits until they reach the age of 55.
The lawyers at The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP recognize the strength and courage it requires for victims of sexual abuse to break their silence and seek treatment and civil justice. We take each case presented to us seriously, and strive to help victims of traumatic childhood events achieve peace of mind as best they can, rather than suffer in silence.
If you or a loved one have been the victim of childhood sexual abuse by a clergy member, teacher, scout leader, youth counselor, nun, or other figure of authority, now is the time to seek civil justice and compensation for any physical injuries and years of psychological damage.
